About the Organization
The concept of ‘Symbiosis’ is nurtured by Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) on the principles of Vedic thought ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ which means ‘World as One Family’. Symbiosis Law School (SLS) Hyderabad was established in 2014 inheriting splendid novelty, dynamism and excellence in the education of Symbiosis International Deemed University, Pune.

About the Environmental Law Cell
Environmental Law Cell (ELC), one of the many cells/ centres of Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad was established with the motto of incorporating a sense of responsibility towards the environment among students and creating awareness about each person’s individual responsibilities to contribute in the prevention of future degradation of the environment. Through the Cell, the members educate the students in campus and people off campus about the need for environment conservation and Sustainable Development through various activities like plantation drive, awareness camps, national seminars, webinars, jumble sale, competitions, etc. The Cell also takes the initiative to celebrate environmentally important days through awareness.

About the Event 

The National Webinar on “Interplay between Environmental Law and Sustainable Practices” will be held on 17th November, 2021 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm.

The COP26 summit announced various Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) sustainability standards for consistent and global reporting. Further, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), formulated in 2015, have set the 2030 agenda to transform our world by tackling multiple challenges humankind is facing. COVID-19 pandemic and new variants of the virus have highlighted the urgency of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Currently, there is a dire need to focus on sustainable health decisions that aid the present and do not compromise the future. Keeping this in mind, the theme of this national webinar shall be centered on Environmental law and Sustainable practices with special reference to Global Progress on Sustainable Development and COVID-19, along with discussions on COP and other policies.

About the Speakers

The speakers for this event are:

  1. Dr. Surendra Kumar Yadav: He is the Vice President of the Society for Environment and Sustainable Development, New Delhi. He will be addressing the nuances of Environmental Law in the webinar.
  2. Dr. Sanjay Mohan Marale: He is an Assistant Professor at Kamla Nehru College, University of Delhi and the President of the Society for Environment and Sustainable Development, New Delhi. He will be covering the topic of Global Progress on SDGs and COVID 19.


The webinar is open to all interested participants, students, lawyers, and law enthusiasts.
