A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Jharkhand High Court seeking to move Chief of Rashtriya Janata Dal party (RDJ), Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav back to the Birsa Munda Central Jail, Ranchi. Due to the soaring Corona Virus cases in India, Lalu Prasad Yadav was admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), due to his health conditions, as he is a chronic patient of diabetes, hypertension, kidney, heart and many other ailments. This was done to keep him away from COVID-19 patients. He was then recently shifted to the residence of RIMS director (Kelly Bungalow) on the hospital campus.
Manish Kumar, on Monday, had filed the PIL, which alleged that Lalu Prasad Yadav, residing in the director’s bungalow, has been directly influencing the politics of Bihar, in which the Assembly polls are going to be held very soon.
The petitioner’s advocate Manoj Tondon, said that Lalu Prasad Yadav, a convict in numerous fodder scam cases, has been meeting with hundreds of people on daily basis in the director’s bungalow and is influencing the politics of Bihar, and hence clearly violating the jail manual. He further said that Lalu Prasad Yadav must be shifted back to Birsa Munda Central Jail, Ranchi which already has all the facilities required for his treatment.
According to Manoj Tondon, the Home Secretary, Jharkhand government, CBI director, Union Home Secretary, Jail Superintendent, and several others have been made respondents in the Public Interest Litigation, in the Jharkhand High Court.
