About NHRC
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory body established on October 12, 1993, under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance (September 28, 1993) and later formalized by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA).

About the NHRC Short-term Internship
In addition to its regular summer and winter internship programs (held during May–June and December–January), the NHRC also offers short-term internships throughout the year, excluding those months. These 15-day internship batches are open to students from various disciplines, especially law, and offer valuable exposure to the Commission’s work.

The 2025 NHRC Short-term Online Internship is now accepting applications. The internship will be conducted virtually and requires full-time commitment from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday). Only those available during this period should apply.

Eligibility Criteria
Applications are invited from students across India who meet the following requirements:

  • 3rd year and above students of integrated 5-year postgraduate courses

  • Final year or 3rd-year undergraduate students

  • Students of any year/semester in postgraduate degree or diploma courses

  • Research scholars in any academic field

  • Age limit: Applicants must be 28 years or below as of 1st January 2025

Academic Requirement:
Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent academic qualifications, including their current course. The percentage calculation (from CGPA/SGPA) must be explicitly stated with the formula. Incomplete information may lead to rejection of the application.

Internship Duration
May 13 – May 23, 2025 (2 Weeks)

Documents Required
Applications without the following will not be considered:

  • Statement of Purpose (SoP): A 250-word write-up titled “Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship”, to be uploaded with the online application; this also serves as the basis for selection.

  • Mark Sheets: Self-attested scanned copies of academic records from Class 12 onwards, including individual semester/year marks of current studies.

  • Recommendation Letter: A scanned recommendation letter (or email) from the Head of Department / Dean / Principal, in the prescribed format.

Perks & Evaluation

  • Stipend: ₹2,000 for successful completion

  • Certificate of Participation based on:

    • Full attendance and punctuality

    • Active participation in sessions

    • Timely submission of project reports, book review, and presentation
