About the Programme
The International Bar Association (IBA) offers a unique internship opportunity at its International Criminal Court and International Criminal Law Programme, based in The Hague. This programme focuses on monitoring issues of fair trial rights and equality of arms at the ICC and other international war crimes tribunals. It also serves as a crucial link between these courts and the global legal community.
Interns will be involved in research, monitoring, and analysis of international criminal law developments, and will gain first-hand exposure to the workings of international justice institutions.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor ICC and other tribunal proceedings for fair trial issues

Conduct in-depth research and legal analysis

Assist in drafting IBA reports and briefing notes

Attend and take notes during events and meetings

Organise internal databases and support administrative tasks
Eligibility Criteria

Advanced studies in International Criminal Law
-
Excellent legal research and writing skills
-
Familiarity with ICC/ICTY jurisprudence and proceedings

Strong written and spoken English

Prior internships at international tribunals (preferred)

Experience organising legal events or seminars (preferred)

While this call is specifically for The Hague Office, the IBA also offers internships in London and Washington DC, supporting departments such as the Human Rights Institute, Legal Policy & Research Unit, Executive Office, and eyeWitness to Atrocities.
