Job Description:
India Legal Research Foundation (ILRF) is inviting applications for the position of Legal & Compliance Consultant for an upcoming product focused on Indian startups and MSMEs.
This is a hybrid advisory and product-oriented role designed for professionals with hands-on experience advising startups on compliance, fundraising, contracts, intellectual property, and regulatory structuring.
The role involves translating practical legal and compliance realities into scalable product logic and founder-focused compliance systems.

• Role: Legal & Compliance Consultant

• Duration: 45 Days
• Mode: Work From Home (Hybrid preferred for Delhi NCR candidates)
• Compensation: ₹50,000 onwards for the full assignment (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
• Building and validating legal and compliance logic powering the product
• Structuring applicability frameworks for:
• ROC compliance
• FEMA
• PF/ESIC
• DPDP
• POSH
• DIR-3 KYC
• Developing decision frameworks relating to:
• Entity structuring
• Fundraising readiness
• Founder agreements
• Intellectual Property risk
• Vetting domain-specific legal lookups including trademark Nice Class mapping and compliance applicability matrices
• Reviewing startup legal service definitions, scopes, and pricing structures
• Identifying regulatory grey areas, compliance edge cases, and upcoming legal developments
• Working closely with the product team to translate founder requirements into product functionality
Eligibility & Preference:
• Practicing lawyer mandatory
• Company Secretary qualification will be an added advantage
• Minimum 2–3 years of active experience advising Indian startups on:
• Compliance
• Fundraising
• Intellectual Property
• Contracts
• Strong understanding of startup legal ecosystems and regulatory structures required
• Candidates comfortable working at the intersection of law, compliance, and product development preferred
