Job Description:

A leading Group of Companies in the steel manufacturing sector is inviting applications for the position of In-House Legal & Compliance Counsel for its Head Office in Nairobi, Kenya.

This role is designed for legal professionals with strong expertise in litigation, compliance, contract management, and corporate advisory work. The selected candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding the organisation from legal and compliance risks while supporting operational excellence across multiple manufacturing units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintaining and updating the Group Litigation Database
• Coordinating with HR Managers for witnesses, documentation, and case preparation
• Liaising with external counsel for effective litigation management
• Representing the company before Courts, Labour Offices, Tribunals, and quasi-judicial bodies
• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and certifying legal documents including contracts, NDAs/NCAs, and SLAs
• Managing injuries and WIBA databases and ensuring compliance with DOSHS reporting requirements
• Advising HR teams on disciplinary, grievance, and employment-related matters
• Reviewing internal and external correspondence for legal implications
• Monitoring regulatory developments and advising management on compliance risks and operational impact


Qualifications & Experience:

Educational Qualifications:

• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
• Post Graduate Diploma in Law – Advocates Training Programme (KSL)
• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)

Experience Required:

• 3–5 years post-admission experience in corporate legal practice, litigation, or in-house counsel roles
• Experience in compliance, contract drafting, WIBA processes, or manufacturing industry will be an added advantage


Skills & Competencies:

• Litigation & Dispute Resolution expertise
• Corporate & Commercial Law knowledge
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
• Legal research and advisory capabilities
• Experience in conveyancing
• Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and risk mitigation skills
• Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism
