ABOUT SCLHR:
Society for Constitutional Law & Human Rights (SCLHR), UPES School of Law, Dehradun, is a student-driven forum dedicated to promoting research; increasing students’ ability to interpret the law according to the changing situation; spreading awareness of issues dealing with Comparative Constitutional Law & Human Rights. The mission of the Society is to promote research dealing with Constitutional Law & Human Rights topics; to make the Constitution and Human Rights a subject matter to read, explore, discuss, debate, and deliberate upon by the students beyond the classroom.
Over the past years, the society has conducted several events, competitions, panel discussions, and lectures by eminent law scholars on various contemporary topics related to Constitutional Law and Human Rights.

It gives us immense pleasure to share with you all that the Society for Constitutional law & Human Rights is organizing a Guest Lecture on the occasion of Republic Day.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
 

Mr. Pradeep Rai is a Senior Advocate and Vice-President of the Supreme Court Bar Association. Mr. Rai is also the Chairman of various sub-committees of the Supreme Court Bar Association including the E-Committee, grievance committee, membership committee, etc of the Supreme Court Bar Association.  Mr. Rai is also the Chairman of the India Legal Aid Centre and the Chairman of the India Legal Research Foundation. He was Vice-Chairman of the National Anti-Doping Agency which is the premier organization under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for promoting, coordinating, and monitoring doping control in all the sports in India.

Mr. Rai has a deep-seated passion for access to justice. He has closely worked with former Chief Justices Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah and late Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.S. Verma, former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission to strengthen human rights conditions across India.
