University School of Law and Legal Studies at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, situated in Dwarka, New Delhi, was founded in 2001. The college’s objective is to furnish an intellectually stimulating, socially invigorating, and professionally enriching education. About the Competition
The Essay Writing Competition, hosted by the NSS Unit, University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University on the occasion of  Zero Discrimination Day on March 1, 2024, centred on the United Nations’ designated theme, ‘To Protect Everyone’s Health, Protect Everyone’s Rights.’ This competition aims to amplify awareness, ignite discussions, and foster critical thinking among participants regarding the intersectionality of health and human rights. By participating in an essay competition, people can develop their critical thinking and research skills. This can help them better understand the complex issue of discrimination, and can also help them identify ways to prevent it when done unknowingly. By holding an essay competition, we can encourage community involvement and engagement in the fight against discrimination. By providing a platform for people to share their knowledge and ideas, we can help advance the fight against discrimination.
 
Eligibility
The competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students of Delhi only.
Theme
The UN-designated theme for Zero Discrimination Day, 2024, is ‘To Protect Everyone’s Health, Protect Everyone’s Rights.’
Rules
1.  The essay should be within 1000 words and not less than 500 words. It should not exceed the word limit or else, it would lead to disqualification.
2.  The essay should be an original piece of work of the participant. Copied entries will not be considered for the competition.
3.  All entries must be submitted through the Google form circulated by the NSS Law Unit only.
4.  Only one entry per participant is allowed.
5.  The decision of the judges would be final and binding in all circumstances. The panel of judges will consist of scholars in the field of sociology.
6.  Assessment of the Essay: The entries will be assessed based on these criteria –
o  Originality and Clarity of the Content
o  Quality of the Analysis and Research
o  Language and Structure of the Essay
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 essays.

•  Last Date of Submission: 15th March, 2024
•  Judging process: 16th March, 2024 – 24th March, 2024
•  Announcement of winners: 26th March, 2024
