The International Law Association (Australian Branch) is inviting submissions for the 2026 Brennan Essay Prize in Public International Law and the 2026 Nygh Essay Prize in Private International Law.
These prestigious essay prizes recognise outstanding scholarship in international law and are named in honour of Sir Gerard Brennan, former Chief Justice of Australia, and Dr Peter Nygh, a leading Australian scholar of private international law.
Prize Categories:
• Brennan Essay Prize – Public International Law
• Nygh Essay Prize – Private International Law (Conflict of Laws), including International Commercial Arbitration
Eligibility:
• Individuals submitting original scholarly essays in the relevant field of international law.
• Essays should demonstrate outstanding legal scholarship and research.
