About the Institution

Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) first established Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies as a social initiative in 1981 to cater to the rising demand of management institutes in the country, and since then it has emerged as a globally reputed university. The Kirit P. Mehta School of Law (KPMSoL) of SVKM’s NMIMS (Deemed to be University) was established in the year 2013, approved by the Bar Council of India. It aims to provide quality legal education to learners of law.

About the Seminar

The Centre for Excellence of NMIMS Kirit P Mehta School of Law, Mumbai, was established as the center for legal research and application, in 2018. The Centre aims to significantly enhance legal research and development, through its integration with allied disciplines, and through extensive exploration of contemporary developments in the law.

The 4th Edition of the NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law’s Seminar, as spearheaded by the Centre for Excellence, aims to be an interdisciplinary forum for the fruitful exchange of knowledge. The program will consist of plenary, half plenary, invited and contributed papers falling broadly within the scope of the conference. Some of the invited papers may be tutorial in nature from keynote speakers, while others will review recent work in specialised fields.

The winners of the seminar will be provided with cash prizes and other awards. All participants will receive a certificate acknowledging their contribution.

Theme and Sub-Themes

The seminar will revolve around the theme of Cyber Law.

“Cyber law governs the power of the cyberspace, harnessing its wonders and hindering its evils.”

Cyber law is a relatively new field that draws from traditional law. It is becoming an increasingly important field in the modern technological world. It is multi-disciplinary, covering criminal and civil issues ranging from financial crimes to cyber bullying. Privacy, control, and access are all areas with which cyber lawyers regularly engage. As a quickly developing and growing field, cyber law promises to ensure more diverse possibilities in the future. The eminent English jurist Salmond has rightly observed that law seeks to regulate the conduct of individuals in the society.

The Sub-Themes include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  1. Offences Related to the Cyberspace and Cybercrime
  1. International Law and Cybersecurity
  1. Data Privacy and Protection of Personal Information
  1. Intellectual Property Rights and Cyber Law
  1. Digital Forensics and Investigation of Cyber-Activities

Format of the Seminar

Submission Guidelines

  1. Original research papers are welcomed on the above-mentioned topic but not restricted to the sub-themes as given.
  2. The paper can be co-authored. However, a maximum of three authors per entry is allowed.
  3. The author(s) shall specify in their submission:
