Dr. Alejandra del Pilar Ortiz-Ayala, Research Associate and Political Scientist, is inviting applications for a Freelance Research Assistant position under a project funded by the Folke Bernadotte Academy, titled:
“Investigating the Role of Socio-Psychological Factors in the Perpetuation of Security Sector Violence: A Case Study of the Colombian National Police.”

About the Role:
The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge international research project exploring peacebuilding, political psychology, and police reform. The work involves handling sensitive qualitative data and demands strong research ethics and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcription of research interviews

  • Translation between Spanish ↔ English

  • Coding of interviews using NVivo or similar qualitative analysis tools

Eligibility & Requirements:

  • Excellent command of written and spoken Spanish and English

  • Prior experience in qualitative research (interviews, transcription, coding) preferred

  • Interest in peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and civil-military relations

  • Must be based in the European Union (EU)

Contract Details:

  • Type: Freelance contract (Werkvertrag)

  • Duration: 1 November 2025 – 1 March 2026

  • Compensation: Fixed payment for deliverables

  • Must adhere to strict ethical and confidentiality standards
