REPORT OF VII S.K. PURI MEMORIAL INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION “JUSTIFIED” 2023 [DECEMBER 1ST, 2ND, 3RD, 2023] 

TRIUMPH AT VII S.K. PURI MEMORIAL INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT  COMPETITION, ‘JUSTIFIED’ 2023 

Law Centre-II, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi recently celebrated the successful conclusion of the  VII S.K. Puri Memorial International Moot Court Competition, a spectacle of legal prowess and  achievement. 

IFIM Law School, Bengaluru, claimed the coveted title of Best Team, showcasing unparalleled legal skills.  NLIU Bhopal secured the Runner’s Up position, with Symbiosis Law School, Noida, earning the 2nd  Runner’s Up title, marking a competition steeped in outstanding performances. 

The event acknowledged individual excellence with various accolades:- 

– Best Advocate: Parth Dwivedi, IFIM Law School 

– Best Advocate [Preliminary Rounds]: Parth Dwivedi, IFIM Law School 

– 2nd Best Advocate: Himanshu K. Mishra, NLIU Bhopal 

– Best Witness: Keerthana Sriram, IFIM Law School 

– Best Memorial [Prosecution]: Symbiosis Law School, Pune 

– Best Memorial [Defence]: IFIM Law School 

– Best Memorial [State]: HPNLU, Shimla 

The seventh edition of this prestigious competition, organized collaboratively by Law Centre – II and Mr.  Sacchin Puri, witnessed participation from 30 law colleges nationwide, including notable institutions such  as NALSAR Hyderabad, NLU Himachal Pradesh, NLIU Bhopal, SLS Noida, and NLU Ranchi. Many  advocates participated in the moot court competition as judges in the oral pleadings while a large team of  students from Law Centre-II helped in successfully organizing the competition in different capacities. 

This edition focused on arms trade’s role in international crimes. Aligned with the Rome Statute, it links  arms trade growth to human rights violations, spotlighting state practices. JUSTIFIED’23 has a unique  theme emulating the International Criminal Court, the competition sharpens trial advocacy skills. It  challenges participants to master case preparation, narrative crafting, effective witness examination, and  strategic legal arguments. 

Esteemed judges, including Mr. Manoj Sinha, Mr. J S Bakshi (Sr. Adv), Mr. Kumar Mukesh, and Mr. N  HariHaran, brought their expertise to the inaugural session, setting the stage for an intellectually  stimulating competition. 

The advanced rounds, finals, and valedictory ceremony were graced by legal luminaries: 

– Presidential Address by Mr. Sacchin Puri, Senior Advocate 

– Address by Prof (Dr.) Bharat H. Desai, Chairperson CILS, SIS, JNU 

– Address by Mr. Sanjeev Nasiar, Vice Chairman of Bar Council of Delhi 

– Address by Mr. Pradeep Dewan, Senior Advocate 

– Address by Mr. Mohit Mathur, Senior Advocate, President of Delhi High Court Bar Association 

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Kiran Gupta, Convenor MCS, Law  Centre II, expressing gratitude for the collective efforts that contributed to the resounding success of this  prestigious moot court competition. The legacy of legal excellence established by this competition  continues to shine brightly, inspiring future generations of legal minds.
