About:
Dr. Iyan Offor, Assistant Professor in Environmental Law and Sustainable Development at the University of Birmingham Law School, is inviting applications from prospective PhD students to join The Multispecies Collective research group. This opportunity is ideal for scholars passionate about animal law, environmental law, and critical (legal) theory, seeking to contribute to innovative, interdisciplinary research in these evolving fields.
Eligibility:

Candidates interested in pursuing a PhD starting in the 2026–2027 academic year.

Research interests aligned with animal law, environmental law, and/or critical legal theory.

Must meet the eligibility criteria for one or more of the following funding schemes:
Roles and Responsibilities:

Undertake original doctoral research under the supervision of Dr. Offor.

Engage with The Multispecies Collective’s interdisciplinary projects.

Contribute to academic discussions, conferences, and publications in the areas of law, ecology, and critical theory.
