About the Organisation

Department of Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, invites applications for its Internship Programme for law students and law graduates. The programme offers structured exposure to government legal work and the functioning of key litigation and advisory units of the Union Government.

About the Internship

The internship is designed to provide hands on experience in:

Legal research and referencing
Court functioning and litigation support
Legal advisory work across Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Finance Law, Economic Law, Labour Law, Infrastructure Law, Arbitration, Contract Law and Conveyancing

Interns work alongside officers and legal teams across multiple sections, gaining insight into public law practice and government decision making.

Eligibility

Indian students who have completed the 2nd year of a 3 year LL.B. or the 3rd year of a 5 year LL.B.
Law graduates from recognised universities
Preference for candidates with advanced computer skills including MS Office, Adobe and infographic tools

Duration and Seats

Duration: One month starting from the first working day of the month
Number of seats: 50 interns per month

Mode and Locations

Full time physical internship
Possible locations: New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru

Deployment Areas

Interns may be posted at:

Main Secretariat, New Delhi
Central Agency Section at the Supreme Court
Litigation Sections at the Delhi High Court
Branch Secretariats in the listed cities

Working Hours

9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, subject to departmental requirements

Honorarium and Certificate

Honorarium: ₹1,000 on successful completion
Certificate issued subject to minimum 90 percent attendance and positive assessment by the supervising authority
