About:
The 35th Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition will be co-hosted by the Institut Universitaire d’Abidjan and the Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Côte d’Ivoire. The event will take place across two cities: Yamoussoukro (preliminary rounds) and Abidjan (finals). The competition provides a unique platform for law students to argue a hypothetical case before a simulated African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, with the 2026 case focusing on business and human rights, corruption, and digital rights.
Eligibility:

Each participating university must register two students and one faculty representative

Students should not have completed their first degree in law

Teams may be accompanied by up to two observers (non-team members)
Roles and Responsibilities:

Participate in all rounds of the moot court, including preliminary and final hearings

Prepare and submit written memorials and oral arguments

Represent your university before judges in simulated court proceedings

Collaborate with your faculty advisor to ensure readiness and adherence to competition guidelines

Ensure travel, accommodation, and health arrangements are made and covered by the participating institution
