About the Role
Dr. Brian Wong, Assistant Professor in Philosophy at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Fellow at the Centre on Contemporary China and the World, is recruiting up to two part-time Research and/or Teaching Assistants. The work will focus on projects at the intersection of nascent technologies, political science, and moral philosophy. One of the positions will be grant-funded under the project “Moral Debt: Towards A Comprehensive Account of Reparative Justice for Historical Injustices” (ECS 2025/26).

Eligibility

  • On track to receiving or having achieved a First Class Honours degree in Philosophy or Political Science

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English

  • Strong work ethic and diligence

  • Preferably based in Hong Kong or GMT+8 timezone (flexibility possible)

Preferred Skills/Qualities

  • Interest in cross-disciplinary research

  • Experience in historical injustice, studies of non-democratic regimes, or political philosophy

  • Ability to work flexible hours with intellectual curiosity and initiative

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with research and teaching tasks across philosophy and political science projects

  • Contribute to cross-disciplinary studies, including on reparative justice

  • Support in drafting, literature review, and academic tasks as required
