About the Role:
The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) is hiring a Research Adviser to strengthen its work on the socio-economic impacts of internal displacement. This role is remote, based at NRC representation offices in Berlin, Brussels, London, Oslo, or other eligible European locations. You will lead the design and improvement of methodologies, transform data into actionable insights, and inform policies and responses for displaced communities globally.
Eligibility / Profile:

Advanced degree (Master’s required, PhD preferred) in economics, development studies, disaster risk management, environmental studies, statistics, or related fields.

7–10 years of professional experience in applied research, socio-economic analysis, or policy-focused assessments.

Proven experience in methodology development, hypothesis testing, and socio-economic modelling.

Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in R, STATA, Python, or similar tools.

In-depth knowledge of risk assessment frameworks, climate/displacement scenarios, and socio-economic modelling.

Experience coordinating consultants, research partners, and peer reviewers, ensuring methodological rigor and quality assurance.

Strong writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills; fluency in English required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is a plus.

Experience managing donor-funded research projects and delivering outputs under tight deadlines.
Roles & Responsibilities:

Lead the design, testing, and improvement of socio-economic impact assessment methodologies.

Conduct data analysis, estimations, ground-truth results, and validate assumptions.

Coordinate and supervise consultants, research partners, and peer reviewers to meet donor requirements.

Produce policy-relevant, donor-ready reports and briefs.

Contribute to global displacement risk analyses and improve methodological frameworks.

Represent IDMC in technical workshops, donor meetings, and knowledge-sharing platforms.

Support delivery of all Global Insights Hub outputs under the EU INTPA Project.

Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidance, and procedures.

Contract & Other Details:

Contract: 1 year (with possibility of extension).
