Opportunity for Professorship / Associate Professorship in Energy Security – University of Lapland, Finland

About:
The Faculty of Law at the University of Lapland is seeking a legal scholar or political/social scientist for a professorship or associate professorship in energy security. The role focuses on the regulation and governance of vulnerabilities and security risks associated with energy transitions, under the Faculty’s LOST (Law, Technology, and Sustainability Transitions) group and ATLAS profiling area. Funding is available for research teams and project costs for up to 5 years.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be currently employed outside Finland on a non-temporary basis
  • Strong research and academic background in law, political science, or social sciences with a focus on energy security and sustainability

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on energy security, governance, and regulatory frameworks
  • Lead and manage funded research projects, including team oversight
  • Contribute to the Faculty’s strategic objectives in sustainability transitions and Arctic legislative and policy development
  • Engage in academic collaboration, publications, and teaching
