About the Role:
The East African Court of Justice (EACJ), the judicial organ of the East African Community, is inviting applications for Legal Expert/Fellow positions. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for legal professionals to contribute to regional human rights jurisprudence and the effective implementation of EACJ decisions. The initiative is supported by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) under its Regional Africa Programme, which strengthens human rights and rule of law across the continent.
Eligibility:

A degree in law (LL.B. or equivalent); postgraduate qualifications in international law, human rights, or regional integration law are desirable.

Demonstrated experience in legal research, drafting, and analysis.

Strong understanding of human rights systems, international law, and judicial processes.

Excellent written and communication skills in English (French or Swahili proficiency is an advantage).
Roles and Responsibilities:

Conduct high-quality legal research and assist in drafting judgments, opinions, and briefs.

Provide technical assistance to enhance the clarity and authority of EACJ decisions.

Support follow-up and implementation of the Court’s rulings in member states.

Collaborate with judges, registrars, and researchers within the EACJ framework.
