The Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD) supports implementation of the 2030 Agenda by improving the quality and financing of development co-operation. Within DCD, the Development Co-operation Research Unit (DCR) leads cutting-edge research and provides policy advice at the nexus of trade, investment and development.

Position
OECD is inviting applications for the role of Lead Economist (Grade PAL7) to join the DCR Unit in Paris. The role involves strategic coordination, research, analysis, policy drafting, and stakeholder engagement at the highest international level.

Eligibility

  • Advanced university degree in economics, international relations, public administration, or related field

  • At least 5 years’ relevant professional experience in development and/or development finance analysis

  • Experience with bilateral/multilateral organisations, think tanks or the private sector is an advantage

  • Strong understanding of development finance, trade, investment and private sector engagement

  • Proven record of drafting complex reports and policy recommendations

  • Practical knowledge of data and statistical tools (STATA, SQL, R preferred)

  • Fluency in English or French, and working knowledge of the other

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify emerging issues at the nexus of trade, investment and development finance, shaping OECD’s strategic work programmes

  • Lead the OECD/WTO Aid for Trade at a Glance report and contribute to flagship publications

  • Advance OECD’s work on Responsible Business Conduct and Development Co-operation

  • Conduct high-level research, policy analysis and quantitative evidence-building

  • Liaise with governments, international organisations, civil society, and private sector stakeholders

  • Represent OECD in international forums, conferences and expert groups

  • Supervise junior staff and contribute to the Unit’s operational efficiency

Location & Salary

  • Paris, France

  • Monthly salary starting at EUR 9,610.74 (tax-exempt, plus allowances based on eligibility)
