About the Job

The University of Southampton is establishing its India campus in collaboration with Oxford International. We are seeking an experienced HR Manager / Head of HR to lead the Human Resources function at our Delhi Campus. This pivotal role will align local HR practices with our global strategy, foster a values-led culture, and ensure compliance with Indian employment legislation. The position offers the opportunity to shape organisational development in a unique international higher education environment.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • HR generalist experience, ideally in higher education or international education settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, and HR operations in India.
  • Desirable: CIPD or equivalent HR qualification; experience in global HR programmes or matrix environments.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead HR advisor to senior leadership in India, aligning HR practices with university policies and local legislation.
  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment and onboarding for academic and professional staff, including international hires.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian employment laws, managing employee relations and policy implementation.
  • Manage HR operations including contracts, payroll inputs, and HR reporting.
  • Partner with UK-based HR team on global initiatives such as performance management, job levelling, and employee engagement.
  • Drive learning & development initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous professional growth.
  • Lead organisational development efforts, focusing on staff engagement, inclusion, well-being, and change management.
