About the Role:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is inviting applications for the position of Counsel / Senior Counsel within its Legal Department (LEGFL). This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of international monetary law, sovereign debt, and financial sector law, while contributing to global economic governance and policy formulation. The selected candidate will collaborate with experts on Fund law and policy matters central to the IMF’s mandate.
Eligibility:
- Advanced degree in law (LL.M. or equivalent) with specialization in international, financial, or monetary law.
- Significant professional experience in a legal capacity—preferably with an international financial institution, government, or top-tier law firm.
- Strong analytical, drafting, and advisory skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary, cross-border environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on Fund operations, policy development, and governance frameworks.
- Engage in sovereign debt, financial sector, and monetary law reform initiatives.
- Draft and review legal instruments, policy documents, and institutional frameworks.
- Collaborate with member countries and international organizations on law and policy issues relevant to the IMF’s work.
