About:
The University of Agder (UiA), Faculty of Social Sciences, invites applications for a permanent full-time (100%) position as Associate Professor in Global Development Studies at the Department of Global Development and Planning, located at Campus Kristiansand, Norway. The department is home to Norway’s oldest academic community in global development and offers interdisciplinary programmes across development, planning, and communication studies.
Eligibility:

PhD in Global Development Studies or a closely related field.

Documented teaching experience and supervision at the undergraduate level.

Experience with coordination, academic leadership, and engagement beyond academia.

Fluency in English (oral and written).
-
Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is highly desirable.

Candidates with empirical research or professional experience in the Global South are strongly encouraged to apply.
Roles and Responsibilities:
-
Teach and supervise students at the bachelor’s level in global development studies.
-
Contribute to research and departmental coordination responsibilities.
-
Participate in interdisciplinary collaborations and external partnerships.

Conduct and publish original research in areas such as globalization, democracy, inequality, civil society, media literacy, and sustainability.

Engage in research dissemination, curriculum development, and possibly leadership roles within the department.
Desirable Experience:

Educational management and programme development.

Building international collaborations or organizing field courses.

External research funding and dissemination through public or policy-oriented platforms.
