About the Opportunity:
Dr. Thomas Gidney is hiring a Research Assistant / PhD Candidate for the Department of International History and Politics, beginning September 2026. The selected candidate will contribute to ongoing research in international history and related fields while pursuing doctoral studies at the Institute.
Eligibility:

Master’s degree (or equivalent) in History, International Relations, Political Science, or related disciplines.

Strong research and writing skills, with an interest in global or international history.

Proficiency in English; French is an asset.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Assist in research, analysis, and academic writing under faculty supervision.

Conduct independent doctoral research aligned with the department’s themes.

Participate in seminars, workshops, and academic activities of the Institute.
Contract Details:

Duration: 01 September 2026 – 30 August 2030

Activity Rate: 100% (40 hours per week)

Annual Salary: CHF 52,000 – 53,500
