About the Opportunity:
The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is inviting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Public Administration beginning Fall 2026. The selected candidate will primarily teach online courses within the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Bachelor of Business Administration programs. This role offers the chance to contribute to a practitioner-oriented, culturally grounded public administration program serving students across Alaska and the Yukon.

The university seeks a faculty member committed to effective virtual teaching, cultural safety, student belonging, and constructive engagement with diverse communities. The position includes a 4/4 teaching load and focuses on teaching and service, without research requirements.

Eligibility:

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in Public Administration or related fields (ABD may apply; degree required by Fall 2027).

  • Ability to teach graduate-level public administration courses.

  • Commitment to equity, cultural safety, and fostering belonging in online education environments.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University-level teaching experience (online or hybrid).

  • Professional or community service experience.

  • Significant practitioner experience in government or nonprofit sectors.

  • Experience or interest in academic program leadership.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Teach general and specialized courses such as Leadership, Ethics, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, and Public Policy.

  • Contribute to departmental activities, curriculum discussions, student engagement, and assurance-of-learning processes.

  • Collaborate with community partners to support experiential and place-based learning.

  • Support the academic growth of in-service professionals across Alaska and beyond.

  • Participate in faculty meetings and departmental events as part of regular service responsibilities.
