About the Bootcamp
In an era marked by pivotal geopolitical tensions, armed and non-armed conflicts, the heightened relevance of humanitarian law has never been more pronounced. Incidents such as Russian-invasion of Ukraine, the ongoing war between Israel-Hamas, military coups across various regions, greyzone tactics, the role of UNSC etc. underline the relevance of principles governing the norms of war and their pivotal role in shaping the world dynamics.
In a series of lectures ranging over a week, the bootcamp on Contemporary challenges in Humanitarian Law and Law of Armed Conflict delves into the heart of international legal frameworks shaping today’s global dynamics. The course covers both theoretical foundations and their application to current real-world scenarios providing an opportunity to explore existing legal frameworks from the lens of ongoing world events.
Participants will explore subjects such as the application of humanitarian law in the Israel- Hamas war, the legality of grey zone dynamics, the role of lawfare, role of mediation in current conflicts among others, delivered by relevant experts in the field.
About Strategic Insights Series (SIS)
The Strategic Insights Series (SIS) is an initiative by the Indian Forum for Public Diplomacy (IFPD) that tries to educate and disseminate knowledge, awareness, skills, and capacity building on contemporary strategic issues of international relevance. The initiative aims to advocate societal consciousness on security issues and promote civilian-led strategic studies. Through its online and offline workshops, bootcamps and capacity building programs, the initiative brings expertise of academicians, think-tankers, policy makers, veteran diplomats and military personnel from around the world and connects them to young enthusiasts in international relations and associated fields, creating access to knowledge and skill development, opportunities for networking and promoting constructive dialogue, discourse and debate among young academicians.
Eligibility
- The course is open to anyone interested in the subject matter of discussion including students and working professionals from any field.
- We prefer under graduation and post graduation students over Ph.D candidates or working professionals, though anyone interested can sign up for the bootcamp.
- We serve on a first-come, first-serve basis. The maximum intake for the bootcamp is 50 candidates only.
Fee for the Bootcamp
- The fee for the bootcamp is 1500 INR only.
- A payment instructional manual will be sent to the applicant upon filling the application form that is linked below.
- The payment needs to be processed within 24 hours after the payment instruction manual is sent to the applicant.
Certificate and Recognition
- A minimum of 80% attendance is essential for receiving certificate of participation.
- All the candidates complying with the attendance requirement shall receive the certificate of participation by end of March 2024.

- Applications open on – 03rd February, 2024
- Last date to apply for the bootcamp – 18th February, 2024
- The timeline of the workshop is from 20th February, 2024 – 26th February, 2024
- Last date to receive certificate of participation – March 25th, 2024
Other Details
- Candidates shall comply with the rules and regulations of the programme and follow the instructions directed to them.
- Candidates shall be disqualified and a notice shall be sent to their respective institutions in case of any misbehavior or malpractice.
- IFPD reserves the right to reject any application or disqualify any candidate in case of any misbehavior.
