About NALSA
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, to provide free legal aid to underprivileged sections of society and facilitate dispute resolution through Lok Adalats.
Internship Overview
NALSA offers an internship programme designed for law students to gain practical exposure to the functioning of the authority. The programme provides hands-on experience in specialized legal services, reinforcing access to justice initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to students pursuing a Three-Year LL.B or Five-Year Integrated Law Course from a recognized university or institution.
- Preference is given to students in the 2nd or 3rd year of the Three-Year LL.B and the 4th or 5th year of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course.
Duration
- The internship spans four weeks, beginning on the 1st of each month.
Internship Requirements
- Interns must maintain a minimum of 90% attendance to qualify for certification.
- A report detailing the work undertaken during the internship must be submitted upon completion.
- No stipend, travel allowance, or accommodation support is provided. Interns must arrange their own stay.
- Office hours are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday (excluding second and fourth Saturdays).
- Interns must carry their own laptops and may be required to visit courts and other legal institutions.
- The dress code is formal black and white attire as per the Bar Council of Delhi’s guidelines.
- This is a full-time, in-person internship; concurrent academic or professional commitments are not permitted.
Certification
- Interns who successfully complete the programme to the satisfaction of the Member Secretary, NALSA, will receive a certificate.
- No letters of recommendation will be issued.
Application Process
- Interested students must apply online by submitting a Curriculum Vitae (CV), a one-page Expression of Interest, and a No Objection Certificate from their institution.
- The application form is available on NALSA’s website two months before the intended internship month (e.g., for a May 2025 internship, applications will be open from February 1 to March 31, 2025).
- Only online applications will be accepted, and selection will be based on merit.
