About National Legal Services Authority (NALSA)
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 to extend free legal aid to underprivileged and marginalized sections of society. It also facilitates the amicable settlement of disputes through Lok Adalats.
Internship Opportunity
NALSA runs a structured internship programme designed for law students across India. The goal is to familiarize aspiring legal professionals with NALSA’s functioning and expose them to key areas within the legal aid framework, thus furthering the mission of access to justice.
Eligibility Criteria
Law students enrolled in either a Three-Year LL.B or Five-Year Integrated Law Course from any recognized university, college, or institution are eligible to apply.
Preference will be given to:

2nd and 3rd-year students of the Three-Year LL.B course, and
-
4th and 5th-year students of the Five-Year Integrated Law programme.
Duration
The internship spans one month (four weeks) and begins on the first day of each month.
Reporting Requirements
All interns are required to submit a completion report detailing the work undertaken during their tenure at NALSA.
Certification
Interns will be awarded a Certificate of Internship upon successful completion, subject to the satisfaction of the Member Secretary, NALSA.
Note:

Issuance of the certificate is contingent upon maintaining at least 90% attendance.

No Letters of Recommendation will be issued.
Internship Guidelines

Interns must arrange their own accommodation during the internship.

No stipend, travel allowance (TA), or daily allowance (DA) will be provided.

Interns must adhere to office hours (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM) from Monday to Saturday. Note: Second and fourth Saturdays are holidays.

The internship demands full-time physical attendance; interns should not undertake any other course or job during this period.

Interns are expected to bring their own laptops.

Interns may be required to undertake local travel to courts and related offices.

The formal dress code is black and white, as per Bar Council of Delhi norms.

Interns showing unsatisfactory performance may be asked to discontinue the internship.

Students are advised not to apply during their examination period to meet the mandatory 90% attendance requirement.

Expression of Interest (a brief statement, not exceeding one page, explaining your interest in the internship and why you’re a suitable candidate)

No Objection Certificate (NOC) from an authorized person (such as the Dean, HoD, or Internship & Placement Committee), clearly stating the name and current semester/year of the student.
Timeline for Application:
The application link becomes active two months prior to the desired month of internship.
For example, to intern in May 2025, the application window will be open from February 1 to March 31, 2025.
Applications will only be accepted online with all required documents uploaded before the deadline.
Note: Other forms of request will not be entertained.
Selections are based on individual merit and the decision of the Competent Authority will be final.
