About the Position

NLSIU is inviting applications for a full-time, on-campus Legal Officer for a period of one year (extendable). Candidates from diverse career backgrounds, those transitioning careers, or individuals returning from a career break are encouraged to apply.

Roles & Responsibilities

Providing accurate and timely legal advice on institutional matters.
Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing agreements, commercial contracts, and other legal documents.
Managing the University’s litigation strategy, coordinating with external legal counsel.
Overseeing internal legal processes, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
Reviewing and updating existing policies while formulating new regulations as needed.
Drafting and finalizing legal notices, briefs, RTI responses, and policy documents.
Liaising with regulatory authorities, government departments, and external parties.
Interpreting and explaining legal language, legislation, and compliance requirements.
Staying updated with changes in laws, regulations, and university governance frameworks.

Eligibility Criteria

Law degree from a recognized university.
Professional license to practice law.
Minimum 4+ years of post-qualification experience.

Remuneration

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
