About the Role
The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) at EBRD is recruiting for a Principal Counsel in its Equity Unit (Banking Operations Group). The role involves providing comprehensive legal support for EBRD’s equity and private equity fund transactions throughout its regions of operation. The position is based in London with a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structuring, drafting, and negotiating documents for equity and fund investments.

  • Managing the full transaction lifecycle, including oversight of external counsel.

  • Advising on compliance with EBRD’s environmental and policy frameworks.

  • Contributing to OGC’s knowledge management and capacity-building initiatives.

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Law degree from a leading university.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in private equity or investment law.

  • Prior work in an international law firm, bank, or multilateral organisation preferred.

  • Proven experience with private equity funds and investments.

  • Fluency in English with strong drafting and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent project management and interpersonal abilities.

  • Experience in EBRD countries of operation will be an asset.
