Call for Papers
The Organizing Committee is calling for abstract submissions, related to Intellectual Property (IP) Studies, for consideration of Oral Presentation in the following key areas:
(1) Literary and Artistic Works
(2) Technology and Innovation sectors
(3) Geographical Indications & Plant Variety protections
(4) Research Track for Research Scholars working in the area of IPR.
To present your research at the conference your abstract needs to pass the scrutiny by the peers of the Screening Committee. Only those abstracts which are original and which have not been presented elsewhere would be considered. The last date for abstract submission is March 3, 2023. Acceptance of abstract begins with immediate effect and the decision of the Acceptance would be emailed latest by March 6 , 2023.
(i)How to Submit Your Abstract?
Your abstract may not exceed 250 words and needs to adhere to the trailing format in Arial font size 12 with a 1.5 line spacing.
(a)Title of the abstract: should be neither all upper case or all lower case. Should be in a Sentence Case and should reflect the nature of the study. The total length of the title should preferably not be more than 250 characters including spaces.
(b) Presenting Author: Below the title of the paper, the names of all the authors should follow in the next line. The name of the presenting author should be underlined. Each presentation can include a maximum of three authors only. The presenting author should be a registered participant.
(c) Author Affiliation: Below the author names, the next line should mention the complete author affiliation, including the PIN Code and email.
(d) Abstract Body: The contents of the abstract should be structured as relevant paragraphs. Each new paragraph should begin in the left margin itself. There is no need for any margin indents.
(e)Reference: After the Abstract, a couple of specific references could optionally be included in OSCOLA style.
(f) Stream of the presentation: Can be either In-person or Live-Stream or Virtual Presentation of a pre-recorded delivery. The decision of the Organizing Committee, in this matter, would be final.
(g)Presentation time limit: The maximum permissible time per paper is restricted to 7 minutes, followed by a question answer session of 3 minutes duration.
(h)Author Declaration: During the time of registration between now and March 8, 2023 the Presenting Author, on behalf of all the authors, should submit a Author Declaration Form appended along with, declaring the transfer of Copyright and Indemnification of the Organizers and its agents, in the event of any conflict of interest.
(i) Complete Transcript: Before the Oral Presentation, the presenting author needs to submit the entire transcription of his/her presentation in a typed format, as above. Presentation without the Complete Transcript submission by the author will not be permissible.
(j)Where to send: The abstract of the presentation should be mailed to the following mail address on or before March 3, 2023 to: headiprchair@cusat.ac.in
(ii) Registration Form, Fees & Complete Transcript:
The Presenting Author, needs to register himself/herself by the Payment of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand only) in favour of the Director, IUCIPRS through NEFT on or before March 8, 2023. A specimen Form for Registration is appended along with. An e-certificate would be issued only on the receipt of the Full Paper’s Transcript(which is to be included in the e-Proceedings), only if the Transcript submission is made latest, before the narration of the Oral Presentation, via email.

(iii)Accommodation:
The University is situated in Cochin area which has got ample accommodation facilities, which may be directly booked by you. The conference organizers will not be able to provide you accommodation. Tea, snacks and working lunch will be provided on the days of the programme to all the Registered Participants.
(iv) About this Conference
This conference in blended mode is being jointly organized by the Inter University Centre For Intellectual Property Rights Studies (IUCIPRS) and the DPIIT-IPR Chair of the Cochin University Of Science And Technology(CUSAT) is sponsored by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The objective of this conference is to provide a platform for interaction between the learners, teachers, practitioners and the various stake holders interested in the utilization of Intellectual Properties, for the development of our society.
In the area of Literary and Artistic Works, presentations pertaining to Academic endpoints, Liberal Arts, legislatory-studies, Entertainment-related studies etc. are proposed to be deliberated. In the area of Technology and Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, ICT, pharmaceuticals, soft/hard ware -related studies etc. are proposed to be deliberated. In the area of Geographical Indications and Plant Variety protections, crafts, agriculture, natural, textiles, food-related studies etc. are proposed to be deliberated. Research Track can pertain to any work currently undertaken by Research Scholars.
The invited speakers of this conference are eminent resource persons, who have achieved fame in the field of Intellectual Property. Their addresses too would be held in a blended mode and so both in-person and Online deliberations are being followed.
(v) About the IUCIPRS Centre
The Inter University Centre for IPR Studies (IUCIPRS) is an autonomous institution established by the Government of Kerala in Cochin University of Science and Technology, in the year 2010. The main objective of IUCIPRS is to evolve into a research hub and resource centre of international repute and to act as a think tank in the area of IPR and related subjects. The main activities of the Centre include policy research support to Central and State Governments, supporting/assisting Government of India in international negotiations, conducting extensive research in intellectual property related areas, conducting different types of academic programmes. This Centre is headed by Dr.M.Bhasi as its Hon. Director.
(vi) About the DPIIT-IPR Chair
The Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) – Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Chair was instituted in the year 2018. The main objective of the IPR Chair is to facilitate intellectual property education and research. The main activities of the IPR Chair include conducting Seminars/Webinars, conducting Outreach programmes, performing academic works, performing academic support works, carrying out research and mentoring students in the area of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). This Chair is headed by Dr.Sankar Sundaram as its DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor.
