Unilever is inviting applications for the position of Legal Associate to join its legal team supporting R&D and Innovation. This opportunity is suited for legal professionals with experience in intellectual property advisory, contract negotiation, and governance who are interested in working within a global FMCG environment.

About the Role

The selected candidate will support Unilever’s innovation and research functions by advising on intellectual property issues, managing contractual relationships with third parties, and ensuring compliance with internal governance frameworks. The role requires close collaboration with R&D stakeholders while safeguarding the company’s legal and commercial interests.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating NDAs, material transfer agreements, research services agreements, clinical agreements, and related contracts
• Managing contract negotiation and risk assessment in third-party engagements
• Ensuring governance and compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards
• Providing IP advisory support to R&D teams, including confidentiality protection and intellectual property risk management

Skills and Experience

• LL.B. qualification (LL.M. preferred)
• 4–7 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
• Experience advising on intellectual property matters and contract review
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English
• Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage complex contractual negotiations

Preferred Background

• Experience in IP advisory and contract lifecycle management
• Prior exposure to negotiating complex service agreements and commercial contracts
• Experience working within multinational, FMCG, or B2C organisations will be an advantage
