ABOUT AMITY LAW SCHOOL

ABOUT CRIMEAN

Crimean is based on Criminal Law which is the foundation of the criminal justice system. Understanding criminal law and how the legal system works is important for criminal lawyers and other legal professionals who regularly deal with crime-related matters. However, law students must know the basics of criminal law because understanding what is prohibited and how the justice process works is the most crucial aspect. Through this event, the participants will be able to understand criminal law and explore its purpose, principles, categories, elements of crimes and more by engaging in interactive tasks like criminal crossword puzzles, legal quiz, filing chargesheet and presentation of a case.

OBJECTIVES

The main objective of Crimean is to broaden the understanding on criminal law.

To generate interest in the minds of students regarding criminal law.

To implant skills like teamwork, critical-thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, creativity etc.

To provide a platform for students to showcase and to encourage their research, problem analysis and presentation skills in the field of law.

ELIGIBILITY

Students pursuing a 3-Year L.L.B. Degree Course or a 5-Year Integrated LL.B. Degree Course and LL.M. Degree Course, BA/ B.Com/BBA or anyone else so interested.

REGISTRATION FEE

  1. The registration fee is Rs. 1000/- + GST for each team.
  2. Interested participants are invited to express their interest by completing the application form via the link – https://amity.edu/nspg/ayf2024/
  3. The mode of Payment will be online. The link for the payment portal is provided in the registration form.

TEAM COMPOSITION

Each team shall be restricted to maximum 4 participants. 

FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION

Crimean 2024 consists of the following rounds:

  1. PRELINARY ROUND: The preliminary round shall consist of two stages. Stage one shall be the crossword puzzle and Stage 2 shall be legal quiz. 
  2. Crossword Puzzle: The first phase requires the participants to solve a legal crossword puzzle within the stipulated time that is 20 minutes. 
  3. Legal Quiz: Following the crossword puzzle, the participants shall be required to solve the legal quiz which will be in the form of multiple-choice questions within the stipulated time period that is 20 minutes.
  4. SEMI-FINALS: Chargesheet Filling The second round consists of the activity of filing a chargesheet based on the facts of a case that will be provided to the participants. 
  5. FINAL ROUND: Presentation of the Case- The third round consists of the presentation of a case from all the finalists. The participants shall have to present their arguments based on the given facts. What makes this round different from a moot court competition is that, in this round the teams would be speaking both, for and against of the case that is the same team would be both petitioners and respondents side. The participants will present the case before the judges and keep their arguments (both for & against).
