The Literary and Debating Committee at NLUJA, Assam, is dedicated to fostering an environment that nurtures oratory skills, creative expression, and intellectual discourse. Literature plays a crucial role in preserving culture, heritage, tradition, and artistic imagination, and the committee actively promotes discussions and literary expression beyond academic texts.

About The Lost Stories
The Lost Stories is the annual literary magazine of NLUJA, Assam, published under the guidance of the Literary and Debating Committee. The magazine provides a creative space for students to move beyond their academic pursuits and showcase their artistic and literary talents.
Call for Submissions
The 5th edition of The Lost Stories invites original and unpublished submissions across various literary and artistic formats, including:
- Written pieces: Poetry, prose, essays, opinion pieces, book and film reviews.
- Visual and fine arts: Photography, paintings, digital art, sketches, and travelogues.
- Humorous content and other forms of creative self-expression are also encouraged.
Theme
Submissions are open-ended, meaning there is no fixed theme. Entries may include personal reflections, lifestyle topics, or discussions on broader social issues aimed at raising awareness. While all creative expressions, including academic pieces, are welcome, the magazine particularly encourages fine arts and artistic works that offer a platform for visual storytelling and imaginative exploration.
Who Can Submit?
Submissions are open to students, academicians, research scholars, and individuals eager to showcase their creative talent.
Submission Guidelines
- Originality: Submissions must be unpublished and should not be under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarized content will be rejected.
- Language: All entries must be in English.
- Citations: Should be in the form of hyperlinks where applicable.
- Co-authorship: Allowed for up to two authors.
- Formatting:
- Font: Times New Roman
- Size: 12
- Line Spacing: 1.5
- Plagiarism Limit: Maximum 10%. Submissions exceeding this limit will be rejected.
Categories & Word Limits
- Articles: Contemporary topics of interest (1500-2000 words, excluding footnotes). Longer entries may be considered based on quality.
- Poetry: Haikus, sonnets, limericks, free verse, or any poetic form. No strict word limit, but entries should ideally fit within one page.
- Prose: Short stories (fiction/non-fiction), opinion pieces, essays, travelogues, book reviews, and film reviews (1000-1500 words).
- Visual & Fine Arts:
- Acceptable submissions include paintings, sketches, digital art, high-resolution photographs (.jpeg format), comics, and manga strips.
- Images must be original.
- Basic editing (color enhancement, filters, cropping) is allowed, but manipulations affecting authenticity (e.g., adding or removing significant elements) are not permitted.
