About the Event
The University of Melbourne’s Gender Studies Program and Ashoka University’s Centre for Studies in Gender and Sexuality, under the third edition of TAARIF (Transformative Arts and Research Initiatives Fellowship) funded by the Antipode Foundation, invite abstract submissions for a one-day symposium titled ‘Trans Abundance: Unruly Transnational Practices’. The event will be held on 29 October 2025 at the Melbourne Global Centre, Connaught Place, Delhi.

The symposium will explore diverse ways of ‘doing trans*’, including methodologies, intersections between research and praxis, and epistemologies of trans*. It approaches ‘transness’ as a capacious, non-universal category that challenges Anglophone and imperialist frameworks, and examines ‘trans* abundance’ as both a site of knowledge and a practice that resists binary, loss-focused narratives.
