Oxford Intersections is an innovative resource launched by Oxford University Press, designed to reflect the critical role of interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed research in addressing the world’s most complex environmental, cultural, political, and social challenges. The journal seeks to provide a platform for research that can inform policy-making and decision-making processes across various sectors.
Call for Papers
The journal is calling for interdisciplinary research articles that address the theme of Racism by Context Intersection, focusing on the Academia and Education section. Submissions should explore a range of educational contexts, including formal and non-formal education systems, and may involve areas such as social media, community learning, and social movements.
Themes and Sub-themes
We welcome abstracts on the following themes related to Racism by Context Intersection:
Refugees in Education – Addressing the challenges faced by refugee students and the role of education in their integration and well-being.
Decolonisation of Curricula, Pedagogy, Assessment, and Language Policies – Exploring the decolonisation movement in educational structures and processes.
Student Protests – Investigating the role of student movements in addressing issues of racism and injustice in academic environments.
Securitisation, Militarisation, State Violence, and Islamophobia – Examining the intersections of state violence, securitisation policies, and the impact on educational access and equity, particularly in relation to Islamophobia.
Academic Freedom and the Inclusive Production of Knowledge – Discussing academic freedom, its limitations, and the inclusive creation of knowledge in the face of structural racism.
Submission Guidelines
To submit your work for consideration, please follow the guidelines below:
Manuscripts must be original and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.
If accepted, articles should be 6,000–10,000 words in length.
All submissions will undergo rigorous peer review and editorial approval before publication.
To be considered, submit a single document to racism.bycontext@oup.com, including:
