About Relations internationales & the Conference
The 2026 annual conference of the journal Relations internationales will explore crises, conflicts, and peace processes in the Asia-Pacific region from the 20th to the 21st century. The conference will be held at Université de Montpellier Paul-Valéry on 1–2 June 2026.
This conference aims to expand the research questions, scales of analysis, and range of actors considered in international relations studies, integrating Asian sources, methods, and perspectives. Selected papers will be considered for publication in two special issues of Relations internationales in 2027.
Eligibility

Scholars, researchers, and graduate students in history, political science, international relations, or related fields.

Papers can be submitted in English or French.

Interest in the Asia-Pacific region and related crises, conflicts, and peace processes is essential.
Roles and Responsibilities / Submission Details

Submit a paper proposal including:

Paper title

Abstract of 400–500 words outlining research question, sources, and methodology

Short biographical note including institutional affiliation, position, and relevant publications

Selected participants will present at the conference and may have their papers considered for publication in 2027.

The conference focuses on Northeast Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan, Korean Peninsula, Mongolia) and Southeast Asia (ASEAN), with possible extensions to the Pacific Islands, India, and the broader Indo-Pacific.
