About the Seminar

The interplay between culture and legal language has far-reaching implications for the creation, interpretation, and application of laws. At its core, legal language is deeply influenced by cultural contexts, leading to intriguing variations in terminology, interpretation, and application across jurisdictions.

How do different cultures influence legal language?
What happens when cultures collide in a courtroom?
How does globalization impact legal language?

This seminar seeks to address these critical questions while also exploring the dominance of Western legal languages and the marginalization of indigenous legal traditions.
