About the Organizing Institution

The Dr. Ambedkar Chair in Social Justice at IIPA was established in 2004 by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. This Chair was part of a broader 1992 recommendation to institute theme-based Ambedkar Chairs in premier academic institutions.

The Chair functions as a center for learning, scholarship, and public policy research on Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy, focusing on governance, inclusion, and socio-economic justice, particularly for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Minorities, and other marginalized communities.
