CALL FOR PAPERS: INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES TO HUMAN RIGHTS (17TH MAY 2020)

It is well known, all human societies face certain unprecedented challenges in the 21st century.  These include climate change, growing inequalities, both within and among countries, mass human mobility across national and regional boundaries, rapidly increasing urban populations and rise of mega cities, increasing social and political conflicts and growing competition for resources and economic opportunities and most important is health and human rights challenges. Understanding these complexities is necessary to come up with global and local strategies to address them. Role of education at all levels in promoting such an understanding cannot be overemphasized, particularly to prepare and empower humans to face the challenges arising from the above issues. On the other hand, resolving such pressing issues through appropriate interventions is critically important to improve the life chances and wellbeing of human being.

This conference is devoted to an exploration of how youth can be prepared to face the emerging challenges through multi-pronged action on the part of a range of stakeholders such as governments, educational institutions, media, civil society, international agencies, scientific bodies and others.

The vulnerable groups are disadvantaged as compare to other, mainly on account of their reduced access to sustainable life like medical services and the underlying determinants of health such as safe and portable drinking water, nutrition, sanitation etc. For example, person with disabilities often don’t get employment or adequate treatment or people living with HIV/AID, various forms of discrimination that affect their life.  The process of identifying disadvantaged groups with the health and human right generated from the pressing reality on the ground that steamed from the fact there are certain groups who are vulnerable and marginalized lacking full enjoyment of a wide range of human rights, including right to political participation, health and education. Certain groups in the society often encounter discriminatory treatment and needs special attention to avoid potential exploitation. This population constitutes what is referred as to disadvantaged group. We can reduce vulnerability by protecting certain rights, right to health, right to education, right to food and nutrition, freedom from discrimination, right to house, sanitation and quality water etc.

This conference is calling papers for the the current and emerging issues in human rights law. The conference will aim to provide those working in this area with a substantive look at the current trends to help them tackle the increasingly complex and sophisticated issues in this area of practice.
