About LHSS Journal
The LHSS Journal-(LHSSJ) is a peer reviewed, bi-annual journal that furnishes a platform for emerging research fields such as history, philosophy, political science, sociology and literature in their engagement with law. It strives to expand the horizons of readership for interdisciplinary research beyond the borders of conventional academic spaces.
Volume I, Issue 2: Fragmented Identities and Factional Fault Lines-Notes on Citizenship and Deportation
For its upcoming issue (Vol 1, Issue 2), the journal invites papers on themes of citizenship, identity and exclusion, and specifically on the following related topics:
- Biometrics and surveillance as a tool of tracing citizenship
- Marginalised identities, citizenship and the politics of exclusion
- Citizenship and identity in the Global South, as compared to the Global North
- Arbitrariness and abuse in detention centres
- Identities and Parochialism in India in the context of linguistic and son of the soil regionalism
- Statelessness and refugee identities in a globalised world
- Media portrayals of ‘desirable’ and ‘undesirable’ migrants
Submission Categories:
The LHSS Journal will accept the following categories of papers:
- Articles – 3000-5000 words
- Position papers – 3000-5000 words
- Case comments – 2000-3000 words
- Book reviews – 2000-3000 words (books reviewed should have been published no earlier than 2024)
- Legislation review – 1500-2500 words (legislations reviewed should have been enacted/proposed to be enacted no earlier than 2024)
Submission Guidelines:
- All submissions must be made via the Google form provided. Submissions sent via email shall not be accepted.
- All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal.
- Co-authorship is permitted (maximum of two authors per submission, including the first author).
- Plagiarism and AI-generated content will be checked rigorously, and any submission found in violation will be rejected without further review. For purposes of plagiarism, the similarity tolerance is 10 percent.
- Please include a brief acknowledgment of any research funding received, placed as a short note following the main text. Acknowledgments may be attributed to peers/colleagues and/or other individuals in the same manner too.
- Authors are responsible for obtaining necessary permissions for any reproduced images, tables, etc. All figures and tables should be numbered sequentially (e.g., Figure 1, Table 2).
- Submissions should be in MS Word format (.docx or .doc) and named with the title of the paper.
- Each submission should include a brief abstract (150–200 words).
Formatting Specifications:
- All articles must comply to the formatting and citation guidelines specified in the LHSS-J Stylesheet.
- Submissions should not contain any author-identifying information to ensure an unbiased review process.
Evaluation Process :
- Each submission will undergo a double-blind peer review process.
- Peers will review submissions for:
- originality of the questions/problems posed;
- originality of the solutions/responses to the problem/question;
- clarity and integrity of research tools/methods deployed;
- thoroughness of literature review
