Call for Papers | Apply by 15 January 2026 |Human Rights and the Crises of Global Order

The Nordic Journal of Human Rights has announced a call for papers for a special issue focusing on the theme Human Rights and the Crises of Global Order. Scholars are invited to contribute original research examining the growing pressures on the international human rights framework, particularly in the context of shifting geopolitical alignments, democratic backsliding, global conflicts, economic instability, technological disruption and the weakened authority of multilateral institutions.

The call encourages work that interrogates the legal, political and structural challenges currently confronting the global human rights regime. Submissions may address topics such as the fragmentation of international norms, competing power blocs, weakened enforcement mechanisms, the politicisation of human rights, the rise of authoritarian governance models, and the impact of global crises on rights protection. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary perspectives and rigorous analytical approaches.

This special issue seeks contributions that deepen theoretical understanding, offer fresh empirical insights or propose new frameworks capable of capturing the complexities of the current global order. Scholars working in international law, human rights law, political science, global governance, sociology, area studies and related fields are particularly encouraged to submit.
