About the Book

The Book Law and Economics in India: Understanding a New Perspective focuses upon an interface between Law and Economic conditions of the country. Law and Economics at present has expanded through various corners viz-a-viz contracts, torts, property, criminal law, constitutional law and administrative law, competition law, environmental law, family law etc. It is intrinsic to note that it helps the legal system to work in an efficient manner and provides prescriptive standard to evaluate law and policy. Law and Economics is an interdisciplinary field that applies tools from microeconomic theory to legal rules and structures to explain their functioning, evaluate their performance and prescribe alternative rules and structures to create optimum social outcomes.  

The world at large is facing the situation of pandemic, which has adversely affected world economies. It was pertinent to impose lockdown so to tackle COVID-19 similarly protection of economy holds equal importance. Whenever there is a need to give protection, reliance is made upon laws and policies framed by the policymakers. It is observed that the economic policies framed around the world have been impacted seriously almost every sector due to spread of COVID-19. This calls for general theme for law and economics since it is very dynamic in nature and to keep up with the new tides it becomes quintessential to focus upon new changes brought in law and its impact on life of people. Thus, the authors encourage the submission of various chapters making an economic analysis of law. The chapters may be in any of the areas of Law and Economics such as:

About the Editors

Dr. Kiran Raj: She is an Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at School of Law, Manipal University Jaipur. She has been putting her hard efforts to bring the best out of the curious youth. She has a rich and versatile teaching experience of over 10 years. She has completed B.Com. LL.B. LL.M with specialization in Corporate and Commercial Laws from Rajasthan University Jaipur. She has completed her doctorate from Manipal University Jaipur. She is enthusiastically involved into academics and very efficiently & diligently shouldered administrative responsibilities with positive aspect of working. She is responsible for eminent participation in the Law School’s undergraduate, postgraduate & in- research programs. Many of her research Papers find space in the well-known reputed research journals, newspapers, and e- Magazines, and as chapters in Book. Her research area is woman empowerment and child welfare. She is actively associated with various NGOs and organizations for the legal counselling. Her enthusiasm & passion for work has earned her the title of the most diligent determined educator.

Ms. Namita Jain: She is currently working as Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, JECRC University, Jaipur. She has completed B.A.LLB, LL.M, UGC-NET, and presently pursuing Ph.D. She has a total experience of more than five years in various avenues of legal field having specialisation in business and commercial laws. She has previously worked in finance, manufacturing and marketing sector wherein have been awarded as best legal person PAN India and Young Talent Award for contribution in scope of online marketing in India. Ms. Namita has involved herself in delivering various expert lectures in Six Month Certificate Course of Valuation Methodology under new standards proposed by Central Government organised for Rajasthan Council of Income Tax Valuers. 

Ms. Nishtha Acharya: She is an Assistant Professor at School of Law, Manipal University Jaipur. She has completed her BA.LLB (Hons.) in 2017 with specialization in Corporate Laws. She has further pursued her in LLM with specialization in Corporate Laws in 2018 from

National Law University, Jodhpur. She has successfully cleared UGC NET-JRF in the year 2019. She is currently pursuing Ph.D. from Manipal University Jaipur. She is enthusiastically involved into academics and her interest lies in corporate laws. She has teaching experience of almost 3 years and is passionate about holistic development as a part of integrated learning format.

Submission Guidelines

Eligibility: Submissions are welcome from Academicians, Students, Research Scholars and Law professionals.

Word Limit: The chapter may be between 4000- 5000 words including footnotes.

Authors’ Details: Details about the author(s), including qualifications and institutional affiliations, if any, are to be mentioned in the cover letter. Co-authorship (of up to 2 authors) is permitted.

Plagiarism: Only original, unpublished, and un-plagiarised work needs to be submitted. The plagiarism level must be less than 10%. Any form of plagiarism will lead to disqualification.

Abstract: The chapter must be accompanied by an abstract of 150-200 words.

Citation: A uniform mode of citation Blue Book 20th edition must be followed throughout the chapter.

Formatting Details:

Submission: All submissions are to be made via e-mail as MS Word documents at: nishtha.acharya@jaipur.manipal.edu

Publication: The Book will be published by the publisher of repute with ISBN No.

Publication fee will be Rs 500 for a single author and in the case of Co-Authorship Rs 800 will be charged (author Rs. 500/-, Co-author Rs. 800/-) and it will include soft copy of the Publication Certificate and Published Book Chapter. Payment for publication to be done after the acceptance of the submitted paper is communicated to the author.

For those who require a hardcopy of the book, separate charges of Rs.1000 (including postal charges) are to be paid by the contributor.
