The GNLU Centre for Women and Child Rights is elated to announce an Essay Writing
Competition on issues at the intersection of Women and Child Rights. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to showcase your research skills, critical thinking, and passion for women's and children's rights; and have your work recognized and shared with a wider
audience.

About the Centre
The GNLU Centre for Women and Child Rights is a congregation of legal minds with the aim of
channeling law to champion the causes of Women and Child Rights by encouraging and facilitating
active discourse and deliberation in the field of women and child rights development. With this
vision, Gujarat National Law University established the Centre for Women and Child Rights
(“GCWCR”) on the 15th of September 2020. The Centre integrates research, direct field action, and
teaching on child rights law; it uses law and socio-legal strategies as tools for transformative social
change to enable children to live with dignity. The specific aim of the Centre is to ensure social
justice, human rights, and quality of life for all children and women in India, with a special focus on
equitable quality education, care, protection, and justice for marginalized and excluded women and
children.

About the Essay Writing Competition
In a world of growing inequality and injustice, protecting the rights of women and children is more
important than ever. The legal profession plays a key role in advancing justice, shaping policies, and
ensuring accountability.
To encourage research, critical thinking, and advocacy on these vital issues, GCWCR is launching an
essay competition addressing pressing challenges in women ’ s and children ’ s rights. Winning
essays will be featured on GCWCR’ s newly launched blog, providing a platform for meaningful
discourse and impactful ideas.

Awards
First Prize: INR 5000
Second Prize: INR 3000
Third Prize: INR 2000
The first three winning essays will also be published on the GNLU blog for Women and Child
Rights.

Submission Categories:
Short Form Posts: 1000-1500 words
Please note: Co-authored submissions are accepted.

Submission Details:
1. Entries must be submitted via Google Form.
2. The deadline for submission is March 15th, EOD.
3. Co-Authorship of up to 2 (Two) authors is allowed.
4. Authors are encouraged to provide a relevant photograph regarding the article’s subject
matter if they wish a photographic preview in the blog posts and social media updates.
5. All submitted content must be original and must not be sent to any other platform for
publication.
6. All the submissions will be subject to Plagiarism and AI check.
7. The Author is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of facts, opinions, and data in the
submission. Submissions must not contain defamatory, offensive, abusive or derogatory
content.
