P. A. Sangma Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research

About the Fellowship:
The P. A. Sangma Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research is a prestigious research opportunity offered by the Government of Meghalaya in collaboration with the National Law School of India University (NLSIU). The fellowship aims to immerse research fellows in the socio-economic challenges of Meghalaya, a Sixth Schedule State, by allowing them to analyse legal and policy frameworks and generate meaningful interventions. This initiative also facilitates collaboration with senior policymakers from the Government of Meghalaya.

The fellowship is named after Shri. P. A. Sangma, the former Chief Minister of Meghalaya and Speaker of the Lok Sabha. It provides an invaluable opportunity for legal and policy research on issues affecting the state, fostering meaningful contributions to governance and development in Meghalaya.

Fellowship Details:

  • Positions: Full-time research positions based in Meghalaya.
  • Stipend: INR 60,000 per month and INR 10,000 as house rent allowance.
  • Mentorship: Fellows will be mentored jointly by Nodal Officers of the Government of Meghalaya and NLSIU.
  • Start Date: The fellowship will begin in the first week of July 2024.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. NLSIU Graduates: Candidates who have completed their B.A. LL.B (Hons.), LL.M., or M.P.P. from NLSIU, Bangalore.
  2. Domicile Citizens of Meghalaya: Law graduates from any recognized university.

  2. Statement of Purpose (up to 1000 words).
  3. Details of two references with their contact information.
