Job Opportunity: Manager – Alumni Relations at NLSIU

About the Role
The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is inviting applications for the position of Manager – Alumni Relations (1 vacancy). This is a full-time role, based at the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru, combining both field and desk work. The Manager will play a key role in engaging with the University’s alumni community, fostering lasting relationships, and supporting the University’s priorities such as student recruitment, global engagement, fundraising, and employability. The position reports to the Director – Communications and External Relations.

Founded in 1987, NLSIU is India’s pioneer in legal education and has been ranked first among law universities in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) for seven consecutive years. The University is known for its innovative and research-driven approach to legal education.


Eligibility Criteria

A. Qualifications

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (preferably in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or related fields) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (50% for candidates with benchmark disabilities).
  • Desirable: Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.

B. Experience & Skills

  • At least 6 years of total professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years in alumni engagement, stakeholder engagement, programme development, financial aid, client servicing, or a related area.
  • Strong communication, research, drafting, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in budget management, planning, and IT skills.

C. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact point for alumni relations at NLSIU.
  • Build and manage an accessible platform for alumni services across all NLSIU programs.
  • Design and execute an alumni engagement strategy to build a global network of active alumni volunteers, donors, and ambassadors.
  • Regularly update alumni databases and develop alumni profiles to showcase their impact.
  • Facilitate the formation of alumni groups based on batches, regions, and academic programs.
  • Launch and manage alumni-specific services and events.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to highlight alumni stories and successes.
  • Create reports, proposals, and analyses for internal review and decision-making.
  • Identify and manage opportunities for alumni fundraising and institutional support.

Tenure

  • Permanent position until the age of superannuation (60 years), subject to successful completion of a 2-year probation period.

Selection Process

  • Part 1: Screening of applications; shortlisted candidates (1:5 ratio per vacancy) will proceed to the next round.
  • Part 2: Interview round scored out of 50 marks by the selection panel.
  • NLSIU may conduct multiple rounds of interviews (in person or via video conferencing) and perform independent background checks. References may also be sought beyond those listed in applications.
