Established in 1999, National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) is one of India’s premier law schools, known for its academic excellence and focus on contemporary legal issues in a fast-evolving global landscape.
About the Competition
The 3rd edition of the Allen & Overy Shearman – NLUJ International Deal Negotiation Competition will take place from February 28 to March 2, 2025. The competition will host 32 teams from India and abroad, selected based on their experience and achievements in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The event will span an entire weekend and will feature:
- Opening Ceremony & Training Session by A&O Shearman
- Two Preliminary Rounds
- Networking & Social Events
- Closing Ceremony & Awards Announcement
Competition Format
The competition will simulate a commercial deal negotiation, where two teams (each comprising a client and counsel) will negotiate for one hour on topics such as:
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Joint Ventures
- Investment Instruments
- Other Commercial Agreements
Problem Structure
- General Information: Released months before the event, providing an overview of the transaction.
- Confidential Information: Disclosed later, containing specific financial and strategic details to shape negotiation strategies.
Participants will be expected to analyze the business needs of their clients and develop strategic solutions to meet their objectives under pressure.
Eligibility
- Each team must consist of two undergraduate law students (one acting as the client and the other as counsel).
- Open to students currently enrolled in full-time undergraduate law degree programs.
Registration Process
- Registration is by invitation only.
- Shortlisted universities will receive formal invitations by February 2024.
