ABOUT THE EVENT

The 1st ALSB National Legal Drafting and Policy Writing Competition, 2026, organised by Amity Law School Bengaluru, is a national-level initiative aimed at cultivating the specialised skills required for legislative and policy formulation among law students. The competition encourages participants to engage with contemporary governance challenges and draft statutes, constitutional reforms, and policy frameworks on issues of national significance. By emphasising analytical precision, constitutional grounding, and implementation feasibility, the event offers a platform for young legal minds to move beyond adjudicatory learning and towards legislative and policy-oriented thinking, reflecting ALSB’s commitment to preparing future professionals for India’s evolving governance landscape.

ELIGIBILITY AND TEAM COMPOSITION

  • Students pursuing Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, or Doctoral programmes from any recognised university, college, or academic institution in India are eligible to participate.
  • Participants from all academic disciplines and domains, including but not limited to Law, Management, Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Engineering, Technology, Public Policy, Media, International Relations, and allied fields, are eligible.
  • International students, exchange students, research scholars, academicians, professionals, and independent researchers are also eligible to participate, subject to the applicable participation guidelines.
  • Multiple teams from the same institution are permitted

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. All submissions must be in English. The combined Draft and Policy Addendum shall not exceed the prescribed page limit notified in the brochure. Exceeding the limit may result in deduction of marks.
  2. The manuscript must not contain the name(s), institution(s), or any identification details of the participant(s). Only the assigned Team Code should appear. Participants are required to remove document metadata prior to submission.
  3. Submissions must be original and not published or under consideration elsewhere. A similarity threshold may be applied at the discretion of the Organising Committee to ensure academic integrity.
  4. The use of generative artificial intelligence tools for automatic drafting or editing is not permitted. The Organising Committee may verify suspected submissions through appropriate measures.
  5. Submissions shall be accepted in .doc / .docx and .pdf formats only. Files must be named as: TeamCode.doc / TeamCode.docx / TeamCode.pdf

*Any other format may be rejected.

  1. The Draft and Policy Addendum shall be submitted as a single combined file inclusive of all pages, annexures (if any), and references.
  2. The competition is open to students enrolled in a recognised undergraduate or postgraduate programme in law or allied disciplines. Entries may be submitted individually or in teams of up to two (2) members. Interdisciplinary authorship is permitted.
  3. Entries must be submitted through the official link or mode notified by the Organising Committee. Submissions through any other means shall not be considered.
  4. In case of any dispute regarding interpretation of rules, the decision of the Organising Committee shall be final and binding.
