Job Description:
Freshworks is hiring for the role of Employment Counsel based in Bengaluru. The position involves advising on complex employment matters, investigations, governance, and regulatory developments across India and APMEA. This role is suited for experienced legal professionals who can operate as strategic advisors and support organisational compliance and people practices.

Key Responsibilities:
• Advising on complex and high-risk employment matters including investigations, restructurings, and workforce transitions
• Monitoring and interpreting employment laws and regulatory changes across India and APMEA
• Designing and implementing employment frameworks, policies, and compliance processes
• Supervising investigations relating to POSH, whistleblower, and conduct matters
• Partnering with HR and leadership on people strategy and governance
• Leading cross-functional initiatives on employment compliance and workplace conduct
• Managing external counsel and mentoring internal teams
Key Responsibilities – Corporate:
• Advising on corporate governance and Board-related matters
• Overseeing Board, committee, and shareholder processes
• Ensuring statutory compliance and regulatory filings
• Managing governance frameworks, documentation, and records
Eligibility & Preference:
• Law degree (LL.B.) from a recognized university (LL.M./CS preferred)
• 12–16 years PQE with strong experience in employment law and governance
• Experience in law firms and/or in-house roles at multinational or listed companies
• Strong understanding of labour laws, corporate governance, and cross-border employment issues
• Experience handling investigations, restructures, and regulatory matters
• Familiarity with POSH, whistleblower frameworks, and data privacy laws
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills
