Call for Papers | 3rd NUJS SILP-ILSA Essay Competition 2026

The Society of International Law and Policy (SILP), National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), in collaboration with the NUJS Chapter of the International Law Students Association (ILSA) and the NUJS Centre of International Law and Diplomacy, invites submissions for the 3rd NUJS SILP-ILSA Essay Competition 2026.

This pan-India competition aims to foster meaningful discourse on pressing issues in contemporary international law while encouraging rigorous research and analytical writing among law students.

About the Organisers
The Society of International Law and Policy (SILP), NUJS, is an academic body dedicated to advancing awareness and scholarship in international law and policy. Through initiatives such as the SILP Blog, recognised among the Top 30 International Law Blogs, the Society promotes engagement with evolving global legal issues and their municipal impact.

Essay Themes
• The United States and International Law
• Sovereign Immunity under International Law
• The International Law Commission’s work on General Principles of Law recognised by civilised nations

These themes are indicative and participants are encouraged to refine them. Submissions on other contemporary international law topics (including trade law, TWAIL, etc.) are also welcome.

Eligibility
Students currently enrolled in any programme at a recognised Law School, College, or University in India.

Prizes
• First Place: Rs 5000 and merit certificate
• Second Place: Rs 3000 and merit certificate
• Third Place: Rs 2000 and merit certificate
• Top 10 entries to be considered for publication on the SILP Blog or in a special edited volume
